1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Mute ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Service Description
Mute is a focus and distraction-blocking app for Android. It blocks distracting apps, silences notifications via Do Not Disturb, and tracks focus session history. All user data is stored locally on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
3. Commitment Deposit
Mute uses a commitment deposit model to help you follow through on your focus sessions:
- Each focus session requires a $0.99 commitment deposit, processed as a consumable in-app purchase through Google Play.
- If you complete your session, the deposit carries forward — no extra charge for your next session.
- If you exit early (non-emergency), the deposit is consumed and a new deposit is required for your next session.
- The deposit is a commitment device, not a subscription or recurring charge. You are only charged when you start a new commitment.
4. Emergency Exit
Mute always provides a free emergency exit during any focus session. Your safety is never gated behind a payment. The emergency exit is available at all times regardless of deposit status.
5. Refunds
The commitment deposit is designed to be forfeited when you exit a session early — that is the commitment working as intended. However, we will issue a full refund if:
- You were charged due to an app malfunction or technical error.
- A duplicate or unintended purchase occurred.
- You experienced a genuine emergency.
To request a refund, contact us at support@sweet-action-labs.com with your Google Play order ID and a brief description of the issue. You may also request a refund directly through Google Play.
6. Permissions
Mute requires certain Android permissions (Accessibility Service, Do Not Disturb, Notifications) to function. These permissions are used solely for focus session functionality and are fully described in our Privacy Policy. You may revoke permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit app functionality.
7. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App in accordance with applicable laws.
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
- Not use the App for any purpose other than personal focus and productivity.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Mute is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices. We are not responsible for any missed calls, messages, or notifications during a focus session.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sweet Action Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for in-app purchases in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of California.
